Crystalline silica particles cause rapid NLRP3-dependent mitochondrial depolarization and DNA damage in airway epithelial cells

Mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNAcn) is suspected of oxidative stress biomarkers and biological aging. modifiable factors, including physical activity (PA), avoiding heavy alcohol use and smoking, and maintaining good mental health, can reduce oxidative stress and improve healthy aging. However, limited data exists about how these factors relate to mtDNAcn or whether age, gender or race / ethnicity moderate association. In a cross-sectional study, we chose 391 adults (183 non-Hispanic white, 110 black and 98 Hispanic; mean = 67 years) of the VITAL-DEP (vitamin D and omega-3 trial-Depression Endpoint Prevention) for a trial VITAL.

We estimate the relationship between lifestyle and behavioral factors (PA, alcohol consumption, smoking and depression) and log-transformed mtDNAcn using multivariate linear regression model. MtDNAcn not correlate with chronological age; women have ~ 17% higher than men mtDNAcn. There is no significant relationship between measures PA (frequency, amount or intensity) or consumption of alcohol by mtDNAcn. smoking (per 5 pack-years) was significantly associated with mtDNAcn (percent difference = -2.9% (95% confidence interval (CI) = -5.4%, -0.4%)); big contrast was observed between non-smokers versus severe (≥30 pack-years vs 0):

The percent difference = -28.5% (95% CI = -44.2%, -8.3%). Estimates are suggestive of different mtDNAcn for the past vs no history of depression (difference in percent = -15.1% 95% CI = -30.8%, 4.1%), but this difference was not statistically significant. The relationship between smoking and log-mtDNAcn varies by sex and race / ethnicity; it is stronger in males and Black participants. While the findings opportunity can not be ruled out, the results of this study support the association of smoking, but age is not chronological, with mtDNAcn and suggested a nuanced consideration mtDNAcn as an indication of the different countries oxidative stress vs. biological aging itself.

and assembled the complete mitochondrial genome DNA analysis of Lutjanus Fulgens barcode (Valenciennes, 1830) and a comparison with other species Lutjanus

Lutjanus Fulgens (Valenciennes, 1830) is a teleost species classified in the family Lutjanidae which is the original of the Eastern Atlantic Ocean. Although very commercialized because of the abundance and good taste, the production output has declined in recent years. This is an indication of the need for measures of effective management and conservation. However, an accurate species identification will ensure strategic management and conservation measures. DNA-based species identification has proven its reliability in this case through the proper species identification. Some researchers have confirmed the accuracy of DNAbarcode as a means of identification of species as well as species phylogeny analysis based on both mitogenome complete and COI gene.

Currently, nine specimens of L. Fulgens that samples from Ghana and the target DNA-based analysis, namely, the complete mitochondrial COI gene DNAand (barcode DNA) analysis. The results revealed that L. Fulgens mitogenomic consisted of 16,500 base pairs (bp) mtDNA consisting of 22 RNA transfer 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA (GenBank Accession Number: MN398650). In addition, sequence analysis of polymorphisms COIgene (MN986442-MN986450) detected two haplotypes.

This haplotype both collected from the same fish landing site which suggests the possibility of cryptic diversity in the population linage L. Fulgens in Vodza. According to the examination phylogeny, taxonomy close relationship exists between L. Fulgens and Lutjanus buccanella caused by the recent evolution called sympatric speciation. This study serves as a new study for this species, building the foundation for the study of molecule-based future for this species and as reference DNA barcode data.
